I found this rototiller on Craigslist. The ad had a photo of a rusty old Lawn Boy rototiller and the ad said it was yard art but when you looked at the second picture it was of a mid 90s Lazy Boy rear tine rototiller. I doubt they even got a answer to the ad. I got the Lazy Boy home and checked for spark. It didn't have any. So I removed the front cowling to expose the armature. It was rusted and had spider eggs on it. I cleaned it up with a wire brush and reassembled the cowling. I now had spark. Next was to see if it had fuel. The fuel tank was full of water and gas so I drained it and refilled the tank. It still had no fuel so I primed the carburetor. It still wouldn't start so I checked it for compression. It didn't have any so I removed the head and found that the Intake valve was stuck open. Next I removed the carb, intake, and fuel tank to expose the valve cover. I removed the cover and found the valve sprig intact but the valve stuck. I removed the valve keeper and pried the valve out of the engine. After wire brushing the valve I reinstalled it. And it opened and closed properly. I reinstalled the head, carb, intake, and fuel tank. I decided to check the oil and found it contaminated with water. After changing the oil. I began to try to start the tiller. It fired off and ran on the gas I was priming it with. Next I removed the card and replaced the diagram and base gasket. The tiller started and continued to run. I found the throttle rusted stuck. Next will be to remove the throttle and clean up. Also I found the tines very loose so That will be the next fix but for now the Lazy Boy lives!

Well after a week of trying to get it to run with power I've determined that the carburetor is no good. I have rebuilt it and replaced the diaphragm but to no avail. I'm buying a new one for just $20. We'll see how it works. https://smile.amazon.com/Carburetor-Briggs-Stratton-498298-Engines/dp/B074CK336C/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
